Tribute

Albert peacefully passed away the morning of May 8. He was predeceased by his parents Maggie and Kit, sister Janet and brothers Martin and Kit. He sadly leaves behind wife Linda, daughters Karen (Marv) and Sheila (Mike), stepdaughter Teresa (Chris), stepson Steve (Tanya), Ken (Judy), grandkids Daniel, Declan, Lee and Jolena, nephews, nieces and so many friends. Albert was born in Powell River, left for a bit, and ended back in Powell River. He worked for Bess Electric, as a pipefitter in the mill, did plumbing work, commercial fishing and logging as a faller, and was the caretaker at Haywire Bay Campground. The caretaker job was a perfect fit for Albert and one he thoroughly enjoyed for 17 years. He was a people person, had a smile for everyone and would chat up complete strangers. He was always up for a cup of coffee, and just maybe, exaggerating a fishing or hunting story. Albert had a heart of gold and never hesitated to help anyone, anytime. He fished, dug clams by moonlight with Linda and enjoyed prawning from his boat. He hunted deer, moose, elk, an occasional buffalo or bighorn sheep, and was even chased by a bear that he stared down with his jackknife. Albert was incredibly involved with the Powell River Soccer Club and loved coaching boys and girls soccer for many years. Many thanks to his dear friends who visited regularly to chat and have a coffee or just to say hi; he loved the visits. Thank you to Home Care for all the support the past year.
