Tribute
Elizabeth Sieg passed away peacefully at her home in Powell River, BC on September 27, 2021 at the age of 85 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by her daughter Gwen Schreurs and husband, Ron; granddaughters Jenn McCready and husband, Garry, and Karen Flatt and husband, Kyle, of Port Coquitlam, BC; great-grandson Taylor McCready and partner, Jenn Forsyth, of Powell River, BC; great-granddaughters Ryann and Kali McCready and great-grandsons Landon and Carter Flatt of Port Coquitlam, BC; son Lyle Sieg and wife, Pam, of Blaine, WA. Elizabeth is also survived by her brother, Neil McKinley; sister, Marion Gagne and their families. She is predeceased by her loving husband, David Sieg, in 2007; sister, Ann; brother-in-law, Eddie; niece, Gale.
Elizabeth was born November 3, 1935. She was the youngest of 4 children raised lovingly by James and Hazel McKinley in Birch River, Manitoba, a central northeast farming community. Elizabeth grew up with a strong sense of family and a hard work ethic on a rural homestead without running water or electricity for most of her young life. In the mid 1950’s she met a nice young man, David Sieg, and they were married in 1957. They started their family soon after and lived in northern Manitoba until 1972 when they picked up stakes and moved west to Powell River, BC. Being attracted to land and having saved over the years, they purchased just over 50 acres of land in the Black Point area. They worked hard to build Victory Road and also extended View Road, slowly clearing and developing the lots and building a couple of homes along the way and raising their family. They enjoyed their little piece of the Sunshine Coast.
Elizabeth enjoyed attending services at the Evangel Pentecostal Church. She was an avid gardener, energetic walker, loyal friend to those closest to her and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her whole family, never missing an important event with all the children and young adults alike. Elizabeth and David enjoyed their snowbird winters visiting and making new friends in Yuma, AZ each year. She liked every colour as long as it was blue.
Elizabeth was a strong and caring person and her beautiful smile will be missed by her family and friends.
