Angelo Bella

April 23, 1930 - February 15, 2022

Tribute

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Angelo (Andy) Bella.
Angelo is survived by his wife Eva, daughter Alesa Maxwell (Randy), grandchildren Brooke (Jared), Haylee, Ashley, Dallas (Frederikke), Diesel (Kassandra) and Destiny, and great grandchild Wolfgang. Predeceased by his son Aaron and his parents.
Born in Edmonton, and moved to Vancouver as a young boy. Every summer would be spent on family farms in Alberta, and those memories were cherished.  In his teenage years, Angelo travelled the world as a merchant marine. These travels led to many amazing stories that he would share with all that would listen. Working in the galley, he was taught many skills of cooking and baking, which carried him into the food industry.
Angelo, together with his wife Eva moved to Powell River in 1960. After odd jobs, including delivery of the first mailed letter in Powell River, they opened a cafe and transitioned into a bakery. Bel-View Bakery, on Marine Avenue supplied most grocery stores, restaurants and shops. Angelo has always been known for baking, pastries and tarts, and continued to bake until recently.  Andy switched over to being employed by McMillan Bloedel, where he worked until retirement.  Always staying active, he helped others as a handyman, worked with inlayed wood, woodworking, fished, gardened, baked and in later years enjoyed puzzles. Never a dull moment.
Regretfully, his health issues stopped his activities in December, as his body started to fail him. Ever the storyteller and joker, he continued until his last days. He is dearly missed.

I want to send my deepest condolences to Andy’s and Eva’s family. My wife and I attended the local Salvation Army church here in Powell River for a few years. When we first joined, right away, we adopted Andy and his wife Eva as our own parents, we even called them mom and dad. It was Andy who I remember first meeting. He was saying something funny and I couldn’t resist meeting him. We hit it off right away. Eventually stopping by their house on occasions to visit. Every time we would visit, Andy (pops) always offered his famous tarts or some other sweets. They were amazing! Due to the pandemic, we had not visited Momma and Pops for a while. We wanted them to stay safe. We had known in the past that he was sick but he continued going strong. Sadly, we just received a message recently that he had passed. I was truly heart broken. I will miss seeing him driving around town and hearing his funny wisecracks. I will also cherish my moments I had spent with them both. I look up to Andy and Eva, they are the true understanding of love spending many years together. I’m sad for his wife Eva also but I know, Andy is right there with her still, by her side. Our heavenly Father is there watching over her as well. I pray for her to find comfort in Him. My prayers also go out to each and everyone who new Andy, I pray that you will find comfort in the Lord, knowing that one day, will be with Andy again. Blessings to you all.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of a great man. I met Angelo through my work at Scotiabank in Powell River.. He was always a pleasure to serve at the counter and I enjoyed our chats and greetings. I moved away in 1993 ,such a long time ago and have not had the chance to cross paths, but embedded in my memory is such a kind and felt me person. I know your family will miss him terribly. Give my best to Eva and surround her with love.
May he Be resting in Gods Hands
