Tribute

We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, Anthony “Tony” Nordentoft, on March 31, 2018. Dad was born in Vancouver on February 2, 1940. Dad enjoyed several years of living and working in the small community of Namu, BC, where he worked for BC Packers. Namu held a very special place in Tony’s heart, as it was where he could indulge in his love of fishing and outdoor activities. It was also where he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty), and started his family. Tony and Betty moved to Powell River in 1968 when he began work at the pulp and paper mill. After retirement, Tony enjoyed time spent outdoors with his good friend Bert Penny and also enjoyed telling stories of his past to his family. Tony was predeceased by Betty in 2002 and his son-in-law Nick in 2017. He is survived by daughter Katheryn Vallier, daughter Leanne Hill (Mark), son Richard Nordentoft (Vicky), brother Gordon (Doreen), grandsons Chris, Kevin and Paul (Nicole), granddaughters Christina, Alicia and Chelsea, his great-grandchildren Ethan, Clayton, Alex, William, Lily and Colby, and many nieces and nephews. We would like to send a heartfelt thank-you to Doctor Andreae, fourth floor nursing staff/care aides at Powell River General Hospital and staff at Willingdon Creek Village for all your amazing care and compassion given to Dad. In keeping with Tony’s generous spirit, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. There will be no service by request.
