Arthur Thomas Mansell

December 3, 1939 - May 18, 2021

It is with a heavy heart we announce the peaceful passing of Art surrounded by his family at the extended care unit in Powell River. After the end of World War II, Art and his parents, John and Joan Mansell, boarded the last voyage of the RMS Queen Mary . Once in Canada, they came to settle on a small farm in Manitoba where Art helped his parents before leaving to work construction at a young age. Art had a passion for life and cared deeply for his family and friends, of which he had many. He was an incredibly hard worker, being a millwright for more than 40 years. He was always the smartest, sharp-witted and funniest person in any room. He loved to go hunting, fishing for salmon, volunteering at the legion and spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Carol in 1983, his father John, mother Joan and his brother Norville. In 1988, Art married Bev; they blended their families and children for a full life of fun and happiness. He will forever be missed by his beloved wife Bev; sister Joanne; sister-in-law Fran; his children Jan, Jamie (Dan), Jason (Jaclyn), Jo-Anne, Chad (Julie) and Brian (Jen); his 11 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and family across the globe. There will be a service at the Royal Canadian Legion in Powell River when we can all safely get together. As Art would say: “If you’re going to do something, do it right.” (Sonny has the fire lit and a cold beer waiting, Dad)

Bev and family so sorry for your loss. I spent 2 adventurous months of my life with Art when we went to trade school in Nelson. Every day was a new one. After Carol passed he told me he met someone and I was so happy for the both of you. We will always have the memories. Again my sincerest condolences.
