Bice Vincenza Mastrodonato

October 24, 1946 - September 25, 2026

Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bice (Bea) Vincenza Mastrodonato on September 25, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born on October 24, 1946, in Bagnoli del Trigno, Italy, Bea immigrated to Canada with her family in 1955. She attended James Thomson Elementary School, graduated from Max Cameron High School, and made Powell River her lifelong home, where she became known for her generosity, resilience and dedication to family, faith and community.

Bea was predeceased by her beloved husband, Silvano Mastrodonato, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. Together they built a home filled with laughter, tradition and countless cherished memories.

She leaves behind her loving sons Dave (Erin), John (Ximena), and Mike (Jodi); her treasured grandchildren Alex (Kyla), Samantha, Keaton (Karissa), Cohen, Mia and Emma; and her adored great-grandchildren Clara and Adelyn. She is also survived by her brothers Vito (Jo-Ella) and Alvin (Kathleen), along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Family was at the heart of everything Bea did. She took immense pride in raising her three boys and creating a home where everyone was welcome. An exceptional cook and baker, she expressed her love through food and hospitality. Her traditional Italian desserts were delectable and legendary among family and friends, and her kitchen was often the heart of every gathering. While many may try, no one will ever recreate Bea’s sauce quite the way she did. Her recipes, traditions and culinary wisdom will continue to be shared around family tables for generations to come.

Bea had a vibrant, larger-than-life personality and a voice that could be heard across any room. When she spoke, people listened. A gifted storyteller, she had a unique way of bringing memories to life, whether sharing stories of her childhood in Italy, family history or humorous tales that filled a room with laughter.

A woman of deep faith, Bea was a devoted member of the Church of the Assumption, dedicating many years to CCD and the Catholic Women’s League (CWL). Her compassion, service and commitment to others earned her the respect of both her church and the wider community.

Bea found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved crossstitching, crocheting, reading, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, always keeping her hands busy and her mind sharp.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Schweitzer, the emergency care staff who cared for Bea in her final hours, and Father Meletius for his prayers and support. They are also sincerely grateful for the many expressions of love, compassion and support received from family, friends, neighbours, and the community during this difficult time.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the values she taught, the traditions she nurtured, the stories she shared and the countless lives she touched will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.

A life beautifully lived, a legacy lovingly remembered.

“A mother’s love is forever woven into the hearts of her family.”
