Charles Edward Morris
June 4, 1933 - December 6, 2017
Tribute
Born and raised in Ocean Falls, Charlie passed away quietly on December 6, 2017.
Charlie is survived by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Lee, his son John (Charmaine), and his daughters Brenda (Ken), Sandra (John), Cathy (Doug) and Charlene (Darren). He loved to have his family around him especially his 8 grandchildren, Tyrone, Jolene (Elmer), Hayley (Brandon), Brent (Karen), Shyla (Grant), Kaylene, Shawnee and Kyle and his 4 great-grandkids Jackson, Hudson, Jasper and Emmersyn.
Charlie came to Powell River in 1954 to work in the electrical dept of the mill and joined the Westview Volunteer Fire Dept. He became a professional firefighter in 1959 and retired after 30 years in 1989 as fire chief. Charlie had many friends from all walks of life; his firefighting and municipal friends, the breakfast gang and most recently, his Happy Hour friends.
Charlie loved to take his family on summer vacations exploring BC, Canada and the US. He enjoyed camping with friends and family and a good sing song. A man of many talents and a vast knowledge of everything.
The family would like thank our neighbours and many friends for their support over the years as well as emergency responders, hospital staff, Dr Rossouw & Kim and PR Fire Rescue for their Facebook tribute and flying flags at half-mast.
A family celebration of life will be held early in the New Year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
