Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Chris passed away with family by her side after a long and courageous battle with AML. Chris was predeceased by her parents Harry and Hazel Hardy. She is survived by her husband Ted, sister Roberta (John), sons Bill and Rick (Liz), daughter Tracy (Alex), and her precious granddaughter Lila. Chris grew up in Burnaby and graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science and teaching credentials. Chris and Ted married in 1970 and moved with their three children to Powell River in 1980. Chris began her teaching career at Notre Dame High School in Vancouver and after moving to Powell River, taught science courses for the Adult Basic Education program at the Vancouver Island University Powell River campus for many years. Chris lived her life surrounded by friends and family. She doted on her granddaughter, who brought great joy during her final years. Chris and Ted celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past June. Chris will always be remembered for her kindness, generous spirit and love for her family. She will be deeply missed. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Powell River General Hospital and the oncology department who cared for Chris during her illness, especially Becky, Janet and Dr. Burns. The family held a private service to comply with current health protocols. A gathering for extended family and friends to remember Chris will be held at a later date.
