Christopher Gottfried Hartridge Matz

Tribute
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chris, beloved husband of Rianne Matz, father of Luke and Leah Matz, son of Angela McCulloch, brother to Jennifer, Jessica and Julia, and uncle to Cameron, Isabella and Raphael.
Chris will be forever remembered as a generous spirited man, master carpenter, avid reader and creative soul. Born in Montreal, he moved to West Vancouver with his family and then to England and Greece before finally returning to Bowen Island, BC. It was there he met his wonderful soulmate and wife of 30 years Rianne, mother to their two precious children Luke and Leah.
Chris was devoted to his family and friends, deeply loyal and a man of conviction. He would do anything for those he loved. With a love of the majestic West Coast and a simple life, Chris and his family later moved to Lund, BC where he built some truly magnificent homes.
Throughout the years, Chris was a good friend and mentor to many on his crews. He often played his guitar, wrote songs and jammed with dear friends. His music was the medium that expressed his heart and made his spirit dance with joy.
Above all else, Chris would have wanted us to live life fully and well. He will be sorely missed.

Relation: I worked with Chris
Chris was a great friend a great teacher and a good man. He helped me out lots in my carpentry career. He helped me find work in Vancouver on Bowen island when I first moved there. I was ever so grateful. I can think of many laughs we had while working together he made coming to work enjoyable. I will never forget him. I wish I could have made the service. It will always bug me. I give my best to the family I will miss him to.
