It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of long time Powell River resident Edna Catherine Spreeuw. Edna passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024 at the age of 86. She was born in Bancroft, Ontario on January 8, 1938. She moved to Texada Island in 1961 and a few years later made her way to Powell River. She worked as a waitress at the Marine Inn for many years, where she was known for her hard work but more importantly her kindness. It was at the Marine Inn where she met the love of her life Casey, whom she married in 1986.
Edna was well known for her caring nature. She was gifted with many talents; speaking multiple languages, playing piano, and creating beautiful art and intricate crafts. When Edna was not at home, she was traveling the world with Casey. If you knew Edna you would have seen the world with her as she loved to create memory albums with the many photos taken and information collected along the journey.
Edna will be lovingly remembered by her husband Casey, daughter Karla, son David (Amanda), step-children Johanna (Dayle), Francis (Debbie), Ron (Wendy), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. Edna will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life for Edna was planned, but has been postponed.
