Ellen Metzner (née Johnstone) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, September 16, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Bruce for 51 years and cherished mother to Chuck (Allison), Linda (Robert), Mandy and Michele. Granny, as she was known to her grandchildren, will be sadly missed by Brenton, Sarah, Brian, Shaudée, Paige and Derek.
Ellen was born on May 10, 1942, in Edmonton and moved to Powell River in 1955. She married her best friend and soulmate, Bruce in Vancouver in 1958. They decided to return to Powell River in 1961 to raise their family. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. She was a very special person and will not be forgotten. The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Hoffert, Dr. Rossouw, the oncology staff and the 4th floor nurses at Powell River General Hospital for their kindness and exceptional care. A Celebration of Life will be held at Club Bon Accueil (The French Club), 5110 Manson Avenue on October 12 from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
