Ernest Albert Harper
December 8, 1921 - October 5, 2015
Tribute
Ernie has finally been reunited with Annett, who predeceased him in 2008 after 58 years of marriage. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and later moved to Powell River with his family. Ernie served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a radio operator and played trumpet in the Air Force band. He returned to Powell River and became a pipe-fitter until he retired in September 1984. Ernie had a lifelong passion for Morse code and amateur radio. His call sign was VE7 CZW and he made contacts throughout the world. Everyone knew his house by his four antenna towers. Ernie was a unique character with a great sense of humour and always had a good story to tell. He is survived by his daughters Karen (Richard), Shereen (Paul), his five grandchildren Melody (Jeremy), Lorelei (Kelly), Ashley, Steven and Kevin and his three great-grandsons Charlie, Leo and Will.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Evergreen Extended Care for the loving care you gave to Dad.
