Ernest Marshall Hrynyk

August 31, 1937 - January 21, 2025

Tribute

On the evening of January 21st, 2025 Ernest (Ernie) Marshall Hrynyk peacefully passed away at the age of 87. Ernie was born on August 31st 1937 in Myrnam Alberta. He lived in Myrnam as a young boy until his family moved out to Powell River BC. Powell River was not only the place where he fell in love with the ocean but where he found his career as a paper mill worker with his brother Gene. Ernie worked at the mill for 41 years and met many life long friends. At the age of 58, Ernie retired from the mill and spent his retirement up the coast and at his cabin surrounded by friends. Some of his fondest memories were reeling in some big fish, and sharing so many laughs with his friends and family. His laugher and jokes always brought a big smile to everyone face, as well as his love of hot dogs and bologna sandwiches. He would make everyone laugh with his slightly questionable culinary creations with hotdogs. His family and friends were the most important thing to him, and he made everyone feel very loved. Gatherings at his home in Powell River were wonderful occasions, which would be full with stories, laugher, and great company. He loved watching the water from his deck, sitting back watching the waves as the sun goes down. Ernie was loved by so many and he will be missed very much.
Ernie was deeply loved and survived by Son Marshall & Daughter inlaw Kim, Grandson Bruce (Marli), great grandchildren Rowan and Charli, Grandson Dustin, Grandaughter Larissa (Kelsey). Daughter Reesha & Son inlaw Donny, Grandson Dylan (Dana), Great Grandchildren Dalton, Davina, Deacon, Grandson Matt, Great Grandchild Liam.
We wanted to extend a special thank you to Dr. Yahaya, Dr. Uhlmann, the 4th floor nurses and the nurses in the ICU who took excellent care of Ernie during his final days. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to Michelle Mcintosh and the homecare team who took excellent care of Ernie while he was in his home.
