Tribute
With great sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn Winnifred Lawrence (née Chapman), loving mother, beloved sister, doting grandmother, and beautiful soul. She quietly passed away February 19, 2026, at the age of 93. Born November 22, 1932, in Barrhead, Alberta, Evelyn’s early years were spent in Tiger Lily, where her parents, Viva May (Dolly), and R.P. James (Jim) Chapman, worked their farm and local general store. Evelyn’s siblings, Jim and Betty Lou, made her childhood years loving and memorable. Evelyn forever carried the prairies close to her heart wherever she traveled.
Relocating to Kelowna, BC in 1970, Evelyn found lasting friendships among the other Guiding enthusiasts of the Okanagan Valley. It was her honour to be selected as Guider-in-charge to represent Canada in an international Girl Guide camp in New Zealand.
She made her final home in Powell River, BC, where her family, dogs, and the glorious ocean life combined into her perfect heaven. It is here where the incomparably kind staff of Evergreen Extended Care unit made Evelyn’s last 2 years filled with laughter and expert sensitive care. She was so happy there.
Evelyn has reunited with husband Ken, her beloved parents Jim & Dolly and younger sister Betty Lou. Without a doubt she has all her beloved cats and dogs bumbling around her with happy wagging tails. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Ken, Evelyn is survived by her children, Connie (Derrick) Harborne and Randy (Sara) Lawrence; grandchildren Mitchell, Richard, and Max.
There will be no service.
