Tribute

Mom left us peacefully on Monday, March 14 after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born Freda Bauman in Mowat Bay and was raised by her parents Anton and Anna in Olsen Valley and Paradise Valley. She and dad married on January 19, 1946 and they just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She lived her life simply and pure in Powell River, enjoying knitting, crafts and whatever she could grow in her gardens. Predeceased by her sister Lilly Martens in 2002, she is survived by her husband Bob, sister Ruby Lewis and her family. Missing her are her children Thelma (Dave) Parker, Jeannie (Les), Dave (Cindy) and Fred (Cathy). One of her greatest pleasures were her grandchildren Rob, Brian and Bonnie Parker, Mark and Tammy Ralko, Angela and Melanie Stutt and Erin and Trevor Stutt. Mom was also very proud of her eight greatgrandchildren.
Mom was always up for a vacation and loved to travel. She spent time in California, Europe and lots of time on the Canadian highways as navigator of their 5th wheel. Her recent travels took her to Costa Rica and cruising the Caribbean. She has now embarked on her final journey and we will miss her greatly.
A burial service will be held on Friday, March 18 at 11 am at the Cranberry Cemetery. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18 at 1 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, a reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion lower hall.
