Carlson, George Marven

May 22, 1945 - December 21, 2018

Obituary

It is with sadness we announce the passing of George. He died surrounded by his family after a fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife Judy, sons Ryan, Scott (Kerri), daughter Erin (Mark) Stride, grandchildren Max, Anna and John Carlson and Jim Stride, and brother Don (Joyce). He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dean (Ruth) Aseltine, Pat Vroom, Daryll Aseltine, Jim (Val) Aseltine, Diane (Joe) Formosa, Duane (Shirley) Aseltine and Uncle George (Bonnie) Stephen and many nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Al Carlson and Marven Hennigar; sister, Rosalin Whitney; brother, Dan Carlson; and mother-in-law Margaret Aseltine. George spent most of his life working in the forest industry. He truly loved his job and all the people he worked with, and sure didn’t like it when he couldn’t do it anymore. He was lucky enough to have spent many years going south, and “put on a lot of miles” travelling. He volunteered with several organizations over the years, including Kiwanis, minor hockey, and he was an honorary member of the Malaspina Fire Department. The family would like to thank Dr. Skobkareva, Dr. Takhar, Dr. Burns, Janet White and oncology staff, Sheena Fraser and the Home Care Nursing Team. He appreciated everyone’s care. We would love it if everyone joined the family for a celebration for George on Sunday, January 6, 2019, upstairs at the Carlson Community Club, 1 to 4 pm. Raise a glass and remember the good times.
