George Oele
August 10, 1949 - December 14, 2020
Tribute
It is with great sadness we announce that George Oele passed away on December 14, 2020, at the age of 71. He was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and immigrated to Powell River at the age of eight with his family. George worked at the mill as a block loader and then became a pipefitter. Later he moved to Alberta, where he continued as a pipefitter before he retired back to Powell River. He is survived by his spouse Christine Claudette Cote, two sons Christopher and Johan, nine grandchildren, six siblings, as well as his 97-year-old father. George enjoyed life to the fullest, travelling and boating and soaking up the sun’s rays. Most of all he loved his quiet time reading in solitude. His hobby was making burl tables and seeing the wood come to life. No memorial service or celebration of life is being held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
RIP, my love, we will miss you and your infectious smile. You have a great adventure ahead. God blessed you with a beautiful family.
