Tribute
Mac passed away on December 14 at Powell River General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Elbridge and Myrtle Harding of Plaster Rock, NB, and his brothers Oren, Alvin, and his niece Kelly. Mac was also predeceased by his first wife, Valerie E. in 1986. Together they had two daughters, Francie (Jeff) and Ivy (Andrew) and son John (Linda), grandchildren Jake, Bo, Connor, Sophie, Johnny and Valerie. Mac is also survived by his wife Valerie K. and stepchildren Paul, Leigh, Jordan and step-grandchildren Jenelle, Kyle and Alex. Mac’s family includes his sisters Opal, Neva and his brothers Emil, Lee and Jewett and his many nieces and nephews. Mac and his three brothers were well-known and respected on the BC coast for their logging escapades. After 40 years using his skills and wits in the bush, Mac retired in Powell River with his wife Val. He should be remembered for his great humour, many tall tales and his car racing aspirations. Mac will be especially missed by his lifetime friend Sonny Rioux, and also his close friends Mark Depape, Brian Wadden, and his special little buddy, Kyle.
Heartfelt thank yous to Dr. Sally Watson and the nursing staff. In particular, I thank my God-sent angel, Rachel Mimeault. By Mac’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please support the Salvation Army.
