Grant Campbell

January 13, 1951 - December 14, 2018

Tribute

We are devastatingly saddened to announce the sudden passing of Grant. He is survived by his loving wife, Gillian; his cherished children, Darren, Kevin (Sonya), Michael, Grant Jr., and Justin; his beautiful grandchildren, Austin, Nicholas, Mya, Madison, Kaitlyn, Luke, and Grayce; his brother, Murray Campbell; and his sister, Sandra Hodgson.

Grant was born in Penticton, BC, but moved to Powell River with his parents and sister in 1952 where they first settled in Grief Point and then in the Townsite. As a young teen, Grant became greens keeper at the old golf course and also went to golf college in Hope, B.C. He married his first wife, Linda Parkhouse, in 1968 and they had three sons together. He later met and married Gillian, together they had two sons.

Grant became a Millwright and worked in the Powell River mill for 41 years. He was very involved in the union and became a wage delegate, he was also involved with EFAP and was a liaison for his co-workers with WCB. He was a volunteer fire fighter. Grant was an avid outdoors man, he loved it all, including hiking, skiing, quading, snowshoeing, and boating. He was very passionate about being a part in all five of his sons’ sports, coaching them in baseball and soccer. He instilled in his sons all of his passions. He was always willing and ready to help anyone in need. We will miss him.

As a warm breeze blows, a grin across his face and a Bacardi coke in his hand, he sails into the sunset.

A celebration of life for Grant will be held on January 27, 2019 at 1 pm at the Carlson Club.
