Imre Magyar

December 1, 1935 - October 9, 2013

Tribute

Imre (Jim) was born in Celldömölk, Hungary. He immigrated to Canada in 1956. Jim made his way to BC in 1958 where he was employed at the Powell River pulp and paper mill.

Jim retired in 1994. In his retirement years his favourite pastime was to enjoy a little gambling. Whether a small investment in the lottery or a trip to the casino in Nanaimo, he loved a game of chance.

Jim was predeceased by his mother, father and siblings and survived by his daughters Orsolya and Agnes and nieces and nephews in Budapest, Hungary.

Jim passed away peacefully with his friends Peggy and April at his side. Special thanks to Dr. Marentette for her care and compassion. Thank you to all the fourth floor staff at Powell River General Hospital during Jim’s stays. Also, many thanks to the staff of Olive Devaud Residence for making his last three months so much brighter. No service by request.
