Tribute

Ina, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, storyteller, historian and raconteur, passed peacefully December 16 with family members at her side.

As a Stillwater pioneer, Ina was a source of information about the early days in the Stillwater and Lang Bay areas. Her memory was legendary—even in her 90s she was asked to confirm dates and facts about early life in the Powell River district.

She was always ready to play the piano and dance. Ina’s talents brought people together. Building a community was important to Ina. She was an active participant in many different clubs and associations such as the Moose, Lang Bay and Stillwater Community Club, Senior Citizens Association, Kiwanis Club, Stardusters Square Dance Club, United Church and many others. Above all, Ina was a friend to all and touched many lives.

Ina leaves behind her children Laurie (Elaine), Lois Millar, Ron (Caryl), grandchildren Cary (Lisa), Judith (Ulrich), Michael, and several great-grandchildren. She is a part of a larger family with many caring nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by all. She was predeceased by her husband Albert, sister June, brother Almer and son-in-law Bob.

The family would like to thank Dr Morwood, the staff at Powell River General Hospital, Evergreen Extended Care Unit, and Olive Devaud Residence, for their exceptional care and kindness during Ina’s brief stay. To her gracious friends and neighbours a special thanks.
