Ira passed away in Evergreen Extended Care on May 27th, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born in Peace River, Alberta on November 26, 1920. He is survived by his son, Carl Trowsdale (Brenda), daughter, Iras Folden (Ray), Stepdaughter, Edna Carto (Don), sisters, Thelma Lovelette and Vida Hodgson, all of Powell River; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Sarah, stepsons, Edward and Larry Charlton, one great granddaughter and one great grandson, parents Ira and Mabel, sister’s Clara, Rosie, brother’s Bill and Dave. There will be a service held at 1pm on June 2, 2011 from the chapel at Stubberfield Funeral Home Ltd, 7221 Duncan Street. There will be a reception to follow services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

We were saddened to read about Ira’s death in The Peak. During my Dad’s (Andrew Marshall) stay in Olive Devaud, we got to know Ira and found him to be a lovely person. I’d often sit and visit with him for a time and hold his hand. He always had a smile for me. Sometimes he would be a bit confused but always appreciated a visit. It was always good to see him surrounded by his family.
I am sorry for your loss.
