James Donald Ford

Tribute
James Donald McLean Ford November 26, 1933 – February 7, 2018 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Don; he passed peacefully in his own home, as he would have liked. Don leaves behind his wife of 55 years Margaret (Elaine) Ford, his brother Charles (Carole) Ford, his children Doug (Jo Ann) and Steve (Rachelle), and his six grandchildren: Megan, Bradley, Stephanie, Connor, Ryan and Sydney. Papa Don was a fantastic grandpa; he spent countless hours with all the kids, fishing, walking, beach exploring, playing cards and storytelling. Don was born and raised in Powell River, with his younger years spent in Cranberry, where the family home was, and then later in life worked 35 years for the pulp and paper mill, where he became a pipefitter. Don enjoyed the outdoor life Powell River had to offer, hiking trails and picture taking; fly fishing, growing an amazing garden and just watching the sunset from their Southview home. Moving to town, where they spent the last 22 years on Ontario Avenue, Don and Elaine were very fond of all the neighbours. Although they didn’t have a view of the ocean, the sweet sound of kids always playing kept a smile on their faces. Many thanks to Doctor Danielle Marentette; the level of care, especially these last few years, has been amazing. No service by request. Hold the fort.
