Jeanil (John) André Bélanger
July 23, 1941 - December 28, 2014
Tribute
Born in Temiscamingue, QC, eldest of 15, Jeanil worked in Montreal before moving to Powell River in the mid-1960s.
Left to remember his joyful, positive and humorous nature are his wife of 46 years Linda, his daughters Laura (Mark) and Alice (Chris), his grandchildren Alicia, David, Claire, Robert, Kyle and Vito, seven brothers and six sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, a rich extended family and a lifetime of dear friends.
Jeanil’s joy could be felt in his willingness to help others. His passion for carpentry was shared with others, with his vast experience and knowledge to his artistic wooden pieces. After his cancer diagnosis one year ago, Jeanil was determined to make wooden jewellery and treasure boxes and he finished his project just prior to his condition changing.
Jeanil loved to travel and he treasured his cruise with Linda to the Panama Canal.
Jeanil enjoyed the summer months, to work in the garden, going on hikes and could be seen riding his bike throughout the community. He loved to listen to music, especially the Bee Gees, where the music was often turned up. Jeanil treasured eating out with the family and one of his favourite restaurants was The Laughing Oyster.
Jeanil was always so appreciative of acts of kindness and generosity given to him and he was humbled by the love of others.
Prayers to be said at 7:30 pm on Friday, January 2 at Church of the Assumption. A Mass of Christian Burial is to be held at 10 am Saturday, January 3 at Church of the Assumption with Father Dass officiating. A reception will follow the graveside service at St. Joseph’s Hall.
Jeanil loved a very happy and full life to the end of his journey.
