Jeanne Springer
October 12, 1952 - November 8, 2018
Tribute
Jeanne Adele Walton Springer Jeanne Adele Walton Springer went to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, November 8, 2018. Born to Brian and Dorothy Walton on October 12, 1952, Jeanne grew up in Vancouver with her parents and sister Susan. At 17, Jeanne fell in love with Richard Springer, then 21. They married and raised their daughter Barbara and son Don in Chilliwack, BC. In 1997, Rick and Jeanne moved to Powell River. Jeanne volunteered at the hospital with the Candy Stripers and loved being a mentor to the younger volunteers. In 2002, she decided to pursue a lifelong dream and went back to school to become a care aide. Jeanne’s smile, patience and love for the residents made her an excellent care aide. She loved her job and so, after nine years only, it was a huge disappointment for Jeanne when symptoms of an unknown malady prohibited her from continuing her career. We know now, to the best of the doctors’ knowledge, Jeanne had a rare form of dementia called corticobasal degeneration, or CBD. She bravely faced the prognosis of CBD and, after a seven-year struggle, is now at peace. Jeanne will be missed by many. Her husband of 48 years, Rick; daughter Barbara and Jason, Luke and Jakob Simmonds; and son Don and Maxine, Carrie, Bella, Evangeline and Halle Springer are grateful for the many kind words given and expressions of sympathy. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 17, from 3 to 5pm at the Welcome Home Club of Powell River (French Club), 5110 Manson Avenue.
