Mr Herl, you probably didn’t know it at the time but you gave me a gift of encouragement the day I saw you last. You spoke to me with respect and support when I was living in a pit of rejection and isolation. You spoke from the heart and allowed me to see that I wasn’t the horrible person I came to believe I was and you said those words without the knowledge of my despair. I walked away crying that day and they were happy tears streaming down my face. I later learned that you passed your kind opinion of me to someone I never thought I would have the opportunity to ever speak to again. Thank you. May you rest in the arms of your wife and grandson until we meet again.xo
