John Hill

February 2, 1958 - November 15, 2015

Tribute

On Sunday, November 15, Lucky Beer’s stock prices fell sharply on the news of John Hill’s passing. Executives at Lucky braced for the impact of the anticipated drop in sales. Johnny grew up in Powell River and other than a couple trips to Mexico and a few trips to the race track, he never left the comforts of home. Johnny spent the past 25 years as the ‘Old Dutch Guy.’ He thoroughly enjoyed his job and made many friends over the years. He enjoyed women, drinking, camping, fishing, the Canucks and was once seen on a beach in Mexico wearing white shorts. Johnny had an amazing sense of humor and a head flip that went with his huge smile. Johnny rejoins his mother Iris, father Norm and his brother and best friend Bob. He is survived and terribly missed by his partner Karen, his children Jennifer (Dan) and Brennan (Kayla), his grandchildren Abby, Grace, Sienna, Keelan and Payton and his niece Staci and nephew Sean. He will also be missed by his many friends and colleagues. Though Johnny died far too young, he didn’t live an average life. He lived his life laughing and on his terms, never allowing a good opportunity for a joke to slip by. He is now with his family and friends playing crib, drinking beer and cheering the Canucks to that ever-elusive Stanley Cup.

‘Tomorrow is never promised so live for today’

Johnny was a special man; honest and true. He had a smile that would light up a room and laughter that came from his soul. His zest for life was unmistakable. He enjoyed every minute of the day.
We would like to thank our families and friends for their help and support through this difficult time.

Missing you and loving you always.

Karen and family, Amy and Rick, Shala and Todd

Our work colleague and friend John Hill was taken from us suddenly on Sunday, November 15. John had many friends within the Powell River community, including the Old Dutch Foods customers he serviced so well.

John’s upbeat attitude and broad smile will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.

John, you will be missed by us all.

~Your Old Dutch Foods family

There will be a celebration of life for John held Saturday, November 21, at 12:30 pm at Carlson Community Club, downstairs.
