Tribute

John Sinclair was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and arrived in Powell River with his family at the age of 12.  He quickly realized his soccer ball would have no future for him, so after graduation he took training as a welder and travelled throughout BC building the pipelines.

He eventually returned to Powell River as a young man with a family, and worked in the mill for most of his adult life.  He was certified for every type of welding apart from underwater welding (for which he said, it was too dangerous to certify in).

His welding prowess became known in town, since he had a professional rig at home.  You’d often see people stopping by to see “if this can be fixed”.  Often, it was a call to the miracle department.  In every case, he’d solve the challenge brought before him.

An avid lover of fishing, John would often be seen on the water, with his maximum allotment of fish, and a grin from ear to ear. His boat was loving named “Sundowner” since he often arrived home in the pitch black of night.

John is survived by his loving wife Darlene, brother Andrew, children Cindy(James) and Jack, and four grandchildren Tanissa, Jordan, Noah and Amelie, great grandchildren Sadie-Grace and Liam.  He is predeceased by his sister Margaret and brother Robert.
