Tribute

We wish to announce the peaceful passing of Ken on Monday, August 3. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and brother Bill. Left to mourn are his son Doug (Anne), daughters Barbara (Bill), and Jean (Dan); five grandchildren Theresa (Kevin), Sarah, Matthew, Jason and Christine; and three great-grandchildren Linden, Dane and Kaleb.

Dad was born February 2, 1923 and grew up in Vancouver, BC attending Magee High School. He completed a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Upon graduation, Dad moved to Powell River and was employed as an engineer at Powell River Company’s pulp and paper mill until his retirement in 1983. Dad met Mum, the love of his life, and they were married on July 15, 1949. He loved to ski, curl, play tennis, badminton and golf. He loved music and was an active member of Powell River Chorus and Men’s Choir. We will cherish many memories spent with him, especially Dad climbing Mt. Diadem with three pairs of skis strapped to his back!

{C}Grateful thanks to those who cared for Dad over the years at Kiwanis Manor, Powell River General Hospital and Willingdon Creek Village. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 18 at 1:30 pm at Powell River Reformed Church, 4372 Padgett Road, with reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Powell River Reformed Church or a charity of your choice.
