Tribute

It is with great sadness that the family of Leanne Crystal Kerntopf announces her sudden passing
on September 4, 2024 after a brief illness.

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by; her boys, son Maddox and nephew
Caustin; her father Bruno; her mother, Shelley, and stepmother Elaine; sister Jennifer; stepsisters
Cheri and Michelle, and her nieces Akila and Ryelynn.

Leanne will also be missed by her many friends and by her colleagues and clients at Powell River
Brain Injury Society.

She was predeceased by her partner Aaron Lawrence and her brother Leslie Brownjohn.

Leanne was born in Powell River and spent her childhood on Texada Island. After a brief time
spent away, seeking education and adventure, Leanne returned to Powell River to make a
permanent home for her and her son.

Determined to pursue a meaningful career, Leanne went to work for the Brain Injury Society while
advancing her online studies with the goal of achieving a degree in Social Work. Recently Leanne
was promoted to the position of Director of the Powell River Brain Injury Society.

Leanne loved animals, gardening and a good laugh!

The family would like to acknowledge all the hard working emergency room medical staff at qathet
General Hospital; the team of BC Air Ambulance staff, and the Intensive Care Unit staff at St.
Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.
