Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna on December 31 with her daughter at her bedside. She was predeceased by her husband Willis after 38 years of marriage, her son Bill McNicol and her sister Alicia. Lorna is survived by her daughter Frances (Vernon) Thomas, her granddaughters Laura (Bob) and Trisha (Gord), great-granddaughters Jennifer and Samantha (Chris), brothers Frank Best and Ted Best and many nieces and nephews.
Lorna was an avid horsewoman her entire life. She was instrumental in creating Powell River Trail Riders, bringing Therapeutic Riding to Powell River and establishing Paradise Exhibition Park grounds. She spent years teaching riding, helping train horses and spent years hauling kids and horses up and down Vancouver Island, Sechelt Peninsula and Lower Mainland to horse shows, riding lessons and horsetraining courses.
For the last four years, Lorna was a resident of Evergreen Extended Care Unit and we would like to thank Dr. McDonald and all the staff and nurses who gave her such wonderful care.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at Powell River Town Centre Hotel on Saturday, January 15 from 1 – 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Powell River Therapeutic Riding Association.
