Tribute

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, David Lyle Ferrier, at the age of 88 years. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with terminal illness.

Dad listened to his favourite music during his final days with his children holding his hands and singing along until the heavenly Angels descended from above with echoes of mercy and whispers of love to escort him on his final journey to heaven. He leaves behind two sons David and John; five daughters Teresa (Gene), Linda, Debbie (Jerry), Angela (Dave) and Tammy (Jeff); 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Mary; mother Winnifred; siblings Peggy, Bill, Robbie and Yvonne; and two children Dawn and Sandra.

Special thanks to Dad’s care team: Dr. Biasutti, Dr. Pang, Dr. McDonald, the wonderful nurses, Rachel and Jody, and the rest of his care team, Lisa, Mark, Carla and Michelle, for being so compassionate with him.

The leader of the family was tired, and his eyes grew old.

A quiet man who earned his love through discipline and a thundering velvet hand.

His gentle means of sculpting souls took me many years to understand.

His blood runs through our veins, and his song is in our souls.

Tears have fallen, hearts were shattered, and he gave us a gift we know we can never repay.
