Lynne Michelle (Stubbs) Aspden
November 14, 1948 - August 17, 2013
Tribute
Lynne passed away suddenly at Powell River General Hospital, surrounded by people who loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Denys and Connie Stubbs also sister-inlaw Brenda Stubbs and her two children Allan and Kim. She is survived by her loving husband Bill and three siblings, Michael Stubbs (Laura), of Campbell River, BC, Joanne Otto (Dave), of Fort MacMurray, AB, and Bob Stubbs (Reine), of Quesnel, BC. Denys was a millwright in construction and Lynne grew up in various countries including Britain, Switzerland, British Guiana, Libya and various parts of Canada, with the last 38 years spent in Powell River.
Lynne was a loving aunt to Staci (Eric) Lemay, Jamie Otto, Chris Rhodes, Diane (Chris) Lyons, and Kyle (Chelsie) Stubbs. She was also a great aunt to Michael Otto, Ryanne Lemay, and Natalie Lyons, and a loving sister-in-law to Joyce O’Reilly. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she always loved spending it with her extended family.
She met the love of her life, Bill Aspden, on a school bus in Prince Rupert, BC. By coincidence he was born in Blackpool, only 37 miles from Lancaster where she was born. They married in 1974 and have lived in Powell River since 1976. She worked as a primary school teacher in Prince Rupert, and in Powell River at Henderson, and James Thomson elementary schools. She was very dedicated and caring, yet no child got away with anything. She was very popular with both colleagues and her students.
Lynne used to enjoy sailing and swimming. She loved reading history and detective novels, and also enjoyed many forms of handicrafts especially knitting and puzzles.
Much loved and much missed.
