Mark William Bronson
November 2, 1953 - April 24, 2026
Tribute
Mark William Bronson of Powell River, BC (formerly of Dunnville, ON), passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on April 24, 2026, following a journey with glioblastoma diagnosed in late September 2025.
Mark was born on November 2, 1953, to George Basil and Connie (Martin) Bronson. He attended Tyndale University (then Ontario Bible College), graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Religious Education. Shortly thereafter, on May 27, 1977, he married his college friend and the love of his life, Brenda Headrick, beginning a partnership that would span nearly five decades.
Mark began his vocational life serving as Christian Education Director at Bethesda Church in Winnipeg, MB from 1976 to 1980, where many lifelong friendships were formed. In 1981, Mark and Brenda settled in Dunnville, ON, where they raised their family and built a life deeply rooted in community, faith, and hospitality. Their home was one where friends—and often their children’s friends—were welcomed as family.
Throughout his working years, Mark was known for his steady presence and integrity. He worked for many years with Minor Bros Farm Supply, managing several Country Store locations. His love of books and learning led him to operate Bronson’s Good Books in Oakville, ON from 1986 to 1992. In later years, he enjoyed the camaraderie of working part-time at Grand Erie Home Hardware in Dunnville until his move to British Columbia in April 2025.
Mark’s life was defined not so much by what he did, but by who he was. He was a man of deep and abiding faith, committed to serving his Lord Jesus Christ. This was lived out through over 20 years on the Board of Directors of Dunnville Youth Impact, and nearly 45 years of faithful involvement and leadership at Maple Creek Community Church. Whether at work, in the community, or at home, Mark consistently demonstrated kindness, compassion, humility, and a quiet strength grounded in the Scriptures he trusted as God’s Word.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda; his son James Bronson of Powell River, BC; his daughters Mandye Bronson of Abbotsford, BC, Abbey (Todd) Weisbrot of Daajing Giids, BC, and Jana (Ben) Young of North Vancouver. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Lily and Kai Bronson, and Owen and Audrey Young. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers Andrew (Heather) of Aurora, IL, and Murray (Linda) of Burlington, ON, as well as his in-laws Gordon Headrick of Lanark, ON and Elaine (Terry) Regnault of Carleton Place, ON.
Mark’s family is deeply grateful for the care, compassion, and support received from the palliative care team and community in Powell River, who walked alongside them with dignity and kindness in his final days.
As per Mark’s wishes, his earthly body has been cremated in Powell River, BC.

My heart goes out to you, Brenda, and to the rest of the family.
Mark was a wonderful man. His infectious smile and that twinkle in his eye will live on in my memory. I will always treasure his visit to Edmund and me in March of 2025 and our family gathering at the lake on July 1st.
Rest in peace, my dear cousin.

My condolences to the whole Bronson family. This is such sad news and I know everyone is still processing this. Mark was always so kind to Michael and I. It is not common to meet a man who is intelligent, compassionate, a strong leader, approachable, and peaceful. I pray that his family grieves well knowing that he was well loved and respected by all. We are lucky to have known him.
