Tribute
It brings great sadness and sorrow to announce the passing of Mary Dawn Markland nee Raworth, Dawn was predeceased by her parents Murray “Lucky” and Lois Raworth, also her eldest son Samuel Barney and daughter-in-law Melanie Markland.Dawn will be deeply missed by her loving husband David, son Dave Jr of Vancouver, grandsons TJ (Timothy James) Markland of PEI, Mikey (Michael Anthony) Markland of Powell River, her older brother Dave Raworth of Deroche BC, younger brother Tom Raworth of Powell River and her younger sister Lori (Ohs) of Nanamio, she will also be missed by countless relatives and friends on both sides of the family, near and far.Dawn was born in Moncton NB, her father was in the armed forces and the family lived in the Maritimes, when Lucky left the services they would move you anywhere in Canada so they decided to go as far as they could and went to Vancouver Island but then ended up in Powell River, this is where Dawn met the “Love of her Life” David, they first caught each other’s eye on the High School Bus and their fates were set.1970 was a huge year for the couple, they got Married in May, David Graduated in June and they had their first son, Sammy in July! WOW!Dawn so loved her “boys” all of them, she was probably happiest at home in her “Dream House” that the couple and their two sons built in Paradise Valley, but David got her hooked on traveling and visiting family and friends, which she loved, she so loved all the children and had to visit and play with them all. The couple got into intensive travel over the years, visited every State, Province and Territory, drove cross the continent several times and loved Cruises, and loved the warmth of Arizona in the winter!Dawn got into quilting big time with several friends and would take her quilts with her to work on when she traveled, she made quilts for many family members and some close friends, she started one for each of her grandsons after being diagnosed with Cancer bad sadly she was unable to finish them so her sister is determined to complete them with the loving help off local quilters here in Powell River and the assistance of our local Quilting Store. So hard to say “Goodbye” but nice to have her out of pain and misery, finally at Peace, always loved!
