Tribute

It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of Mary at the age of 94. She is survived by her sons George (Judy), Don (Joyce), of Powell River, and Dan of Vancouver, BC; grandchildren Ryan Carlson, Scott (Kerri) Carlson, Erin (Mark) Stride, Brent (Kate) Carlson, Shane (Kris) Carlson, Wendy Morris (Bob), Carlene Wassing (Rob), Ken Carlson, Darren (Rita) Carlson; greatgrandchildren, Leon, Quinn, Max, Anna, John, Ken, Robert, Caitlyn, Amy and Brock. Also, sister-in-law Bea Carlson of Powell River, cousin Jean Davis of Red Deer, Alberta, and sister Florence Wecklich of California. She was predeceased by her husband Al, her daughter Rosalin and son-in-law Bob Whitney.
Mary was born in Hespero, Alberta and left her home, along with her sisters, to come to Powell River to help their grandfather William Joice with his farm. She was very active socially her entire life and was very proud of her long-time membership of the Senior Citizens Association of Powell River.
She and her husband Al enjoyed lawn bowling, cruising, and were avid bridge players. They were fortunate to have been able to spend many years travelling and going south for the winter. She especially enjoyed spending time with all of her friends, and looked forward to her ”nickel me gang” visits.
Service to be held Monday, December 6 at 10:30 am at Salvation Army. Captains Jennifer and Rick Robins officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
