Tribute

Max passed away Sunday evening at Evergreen Extended Care Unit. He is survived by Elaine, his wife of 49 years, children Elisabeth in Austria, Mark, Darlene (Kevin), Jeff (Becky), and Resi, 11 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

Max was predeceased by his son Derek and two older brothers Franz and Matthias in Austria.

Max was born in Neudörfl, Austria and after working as a civil guard for the American Army in Austria, immigrated to Canada at age 21. He worked in Bralorne, BC, in the gold mine as a timberman then came to Powell River and worked in the mill for 36 years, mainly as shift electrician, until his retirement in 1988. Max and his wife Elaine operated Mountain Ash Farm until 2008 when they moved to Cranberry. Max’s love of animals and his sense of humour were well known.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 5 at 1 pm at Cranberry Seniors’ Centre and his ashes will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Kelly Creek. Max was instrumental in restoring this cemetery to its present peaceful state.

The family wishes to express gratitude to staff at Evergreen Extended Care Unit and to Dr. Brigitte Dohm for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evergreen Extended Care Unit or the charity of your choice in Max’s memory.
