Tribute

Surrounded by love, with hand held, our precious Merrilee Lynn Carlson let go January 11, 2019. She was loved as a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and was a true friend. She was predeceased by her brother Richard, her parents Margaret and Allan Carlson, and husband Gary Kennedy. Merrilee is survived by her sister Gwen (Norman), cousins, her brother’s daughters Maritama and Tamala Carlson and their families. A sense of community was important to Merrilee. I give thanks to Inclusion Powell River, Community Inclusion Program and their life-skill workers these last 17 years. Participation in their many programs and the friends she made enabled her to have a full and independent life. Their support during her six-month hospital stay made such a difference for her transition to Willingdon Creek Village. Their continued visits and the care from the nurses and staff at Willingdon Creek gave her a quality of life that was exceptional. A special thank-you goes to Dr. Schweitzer. A celebration of Merrilee’s life will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, January 26, at the ARC Community Event Centre in the Jean Pike Centre.
