Tribute

Monica Alice Behan, August 2, 1916-October 5, 2011; Our family sadly announces that our mother passed away in Powell River General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband and our father Melvin (Jiggs) in July 1996. her son Rick in 1981. son-in-law Les Zohner and granddaughter Shelley Zohner. Morn came to Powell River from Vancouver when she was 10 months old. Most of her early education was at Henderson Elementary School and Brooks Secondary High School. She then went to Vancouver where she graduated from LittIe Flower Academy. Later she became a hairdresser and had her own shop on Marine Avenue. Morn and Dad married and moved to Campbell River for a few years but returned to Powell River to care for her mother. H was here that they raised their six children, Maureen Zohner, Carol Behan, Isobel Behan, Rick Behan and Nora McHattie. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Dad were faithful Catholics and Holy Mass and the rosary were part of their daily lives. They started the local cenacle of the Marian Movement of Priests. Mom was the last living charter member of the local Catholics Women”s League. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. Prayers will be held on Monday, October 10 at 3 pm at the Church of the Assumption. Christian burial will be held on Tuesday. October 11 at 10:30 am also at the church. A reception will be held in St. Joseph”s Hall following the burial.
