Tribute

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father. Nels passed away peacefully, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease, surrounded by his loving family.

Nels was born in Stockholm, Saskatchewan to George and Jenny Lundgren. His mother died when he was five and shortly after Nels, his father and three of his siblings moved to Powell River. On one of their stops Nels climbed into an abandoned car and he had found his passion. Although he was a self-taught mechanic, he was one of the best in Powell River and worked on hundreds of cars over the years. As a young man he worked at City Motors, starting out as a tire man. He spent many years working at the mill in the finishing room. He also was an owner/operator of a dump truck and worked for Department of Highways until he had to take early retirement due to arthritis.

In 1955 Nels married the love of his life Delores and by the next year had started their family. Together they raised four children. They spent many weekends taking drives up the logging roads, every summer going on camping trips and in later years travelling to visit kids and grandkids.

He is predeceased by his parents and his in-laws Bob and Agnes McCarter. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife Delores, children Rob (Corenna), Donna (John) Anaka, Rick (Monica) and Kevin (Alayne), his grandchildren Jen (Nathan), Matt, Ryan, Tim, Brent (Jen), Eric, Carli (Art), Lindsey (Jamie), Leanne (Ron), Jordan, Cody, Seth, Alex, Eddie and Dominic and his precious great-grandchildren Rachel, Sarah, Tyson, Chloe, Brittany, Dallas and Bradley.

He also leaves to mourn his sisters Ollie, Ruth, Trudy (Richard) and Vivian, brother Evert, brother-in-law Gary, many nieces, nephews and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Nels’ memory to the charity of your choice.
