Tribute

Norah Mabel Abram was born November 1, 1924 in Jasper, AB, the second of three children to Edward and Millicent Abram who had come from England.  Her family lived in the Mount Robson/Jasper are and she attended school in Dunster, BC.  After school she moved to Vancouver with her sister Peggy and enjoyed working as an office clerk for the Canadian Liquid Air Company.  She met her husband Herb Jantz when a group of young people rented a car from the car lot where he worked for an excursion – Herb was driving and Norah sat in the front seat.  They were married in Vancouver on March 5, 1948 and settled in Powell River where her parents had moved also.  They built their family home on Harvie Avenue where they remained until now.  She became the mother of three sons:  Philip in 1949, Christopher in 1951 and Barry in 1953.  Norah was know for her kind heart, reading her Bible, playing piano and love of animals.  She always carried a treat in her pocket for any dogs she would meet.  She faithfully attended her fellowship meetings and was much loved by her friends there.  Norah is predeceased by her brother George Abram in 1982, her son Philip in 2014 and sister Peggy White in February of 2020.  She is survived by her husband of 72 years Herb, her sons Chris (Karen) and Barry (Shirli), grandchildren Becky, Michelle, Heather, Dale, Ken and Derek, niece Irene, nephew Glenn as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
