Patrick John Brennan
July 17, 1950 - October 28, 2018
Tribute
Patrick John Oliver Brennan Our beloved uncle John passed away 28 October 2018 in Powell River. He was born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, on 17 July 1950, the son of Martin and Ellen Brennan. When John was three years old, the family moved to Oxfordshire, England. He graduated with a Degree in Chemical Engineering from Bradford University in the early 1970s. Shortly after graduation he moved to Canada to be closer to his sister Carmel and her family. John began his career working with MacMillan Bloedel in the steamplant. John was the second eldest of seven siblings; he was predeceased by brother Cieran and he leaves to mourn Carmel (Danny), Francis (Alison), Cecilia, Eugene and Brendan (Carolyn). Saddened by the loss of their Uncle John are his nieces and nephews: Monica, Annette, Shannon, Justin, Brendan, Rupert, Dharshini, Sachin, Ellen, Robert, Catherine, Aileen and Thomas. He also leaves many grand nieces and nephews and friends who made up his family. John was a superb mathematician. He had an insatiable appetite for world news, always at the ready to debate and decipher world politics. If ever a game of Trivial Pursuit was on, your best bet was to have John on your team, especially for the history and science pies. There was never a day that a newspaper was not held by Uncle John’s hands. Uncle John was a part of every family function and he truly loved all his nieces and nephews no matter where they were in the world. Sitting amongst the noisy children and chattering adults in his thoughtful and reserved demeanour, uncle John truly enjoyed the ambiance of family life around him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on 5 November 2018, at St. Gerard’s Church in Wildwood. A tea to celebrate our uncle John’s life will be held at St. Gerard’s Church, immediately following interment at Cranberry cemetery. Prayers will be held Sunday at 6:30 pm on 4 November 2018, also at St. Gerard’s Church in Wildwood.
