Peter Gordon Kenny

November 29, 1946 - February 20, 2013

Tribute

Peter Kenny passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at home.  Peter is survived by Pam, his wife of 40 years.  Peter is also survived by a sister, Lynn Lamb (Kenny); nieces: Andrea (Darcy), Christianne (Shawn), Kathryn (Andrew), Laura (Ted) and nephews: Graham and Jonathan (Jacquie).  Also great nieces and nephews: Emma, Henry, Hudson, Logan, Natasha, Owen, Patrick, Sebastien and Sierra.

Peter was born in Ottawa.  After travelling in his youth he received his education at the U. of Western Ontario and at Carleton University.  He moved west and spent almost thirty years working for the Government of Alberta.  Peter left many good friends to retire to Texada Island where he made many more wonderful friends.  During retirement, Peter found one his joys, writing.  He found great happiness putting down his thoughts and stories on paper and then trying to make the results match the ideas in his mind that had started the process.

Thank you to Dr. Kevin Black (Kerstin, Maureen, Roxanna, Susan); Home Support (Angel, Frances, Kathleen, Mich, Miriam, Sandra, Sandy); Dr. Deke Botsford, CRGH; Dr. Blake Hoffert (Allison, Darcy, Janet, Sheena, Sylvia); Dr. Roy Ma, BCCA; Dr. Takar; Linda deVries; Sonia Childress and Joan Martisca.

Sending Love and Light at this difficult time. My prayers are with you Pam. I didn’t know Gordon but he must have been very special for you to have chosen him and to have spent the last 40 years together. I feel like I came to know you in your relationship with Gordon through the e-mail progress reports I received while you were building your home. A true partnership. Love, Kristy

From: Ruth Vant
Relation: Brother-in-law

I am so sad to learn that Peter has left us. I am left with fond memories of cribbage, mild debates, teasing our children, and more recently showing pride in his community on Texada Island. I will be wearing my Texada flower stone necklace (the one I call my “Peter necklace”) for a few days to keep him near.
(Note – the photo was taken by Pam during our family visit to see P&P in Edmonton in 1992)
love Ruth

My heart is broken, upon hearing the news of Peter’s passing. However I know his work here on earth was finished, and his suffering is over. Peter was simply the best brother I could ever wish for, he was my rock. and I will miss him deeply and keep loving him forever. Dear Pam ,I am sending you all my love and support, I can only guess how difficult this journey was for both of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. With all my love, Lynn

To Pam and Peter’s family,
I was very sad to hear that Peter is gone. I know it’s been a tough couple of years. I will always have the memory of his twinkling eyes and goofy grin when teasing-coupled with his warm and caring nature, especially for Pam. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
