From: Sheri Kern
Relation: Friend
Hello,
I am a friend of Mark’s from his Northwestern years. We were very close in those days—doing classes, making student films, having heated debates about the meaning of life; he even came to my home in Indiana a few times to visit my family with me. We stayed in touch during his teaching years in Canada; then after his return to Powell River, we talked by phone or wrote letters every year or two, until this past year when I couldn’t get any answer with the phone number I had.
Mark was a wonderful person—smart, curious, funny, passionate about good films and interesting ideas (especially about Jungian ideas). His spirituality was an inspiration to me and I still think often about all the satisfying talks we had in our grad school days.
I hope that Mark’s beliefs about being part of the collective unconscious are indeed true, and I pray that he’s now free of his physical struggles and busy sending his spiritual goodness and energy back to those of us still earthbound.
I hope he now knows how many people admired him and remember him.
The best to your family,
Sheri Kern
