Tribute
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Mother, Phyllis Anderson, who passed away peacefully on January 12 at the age of 88. Mom was predeceased by her first husband Stan Hollinshead, their infant son and her second husband Don Anderson.
Mom was born and lived her early years in New Westminister, BC. At the age of 18, she joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corp (CWAC), where she worked as a teletype operator in Vancouver during World War II. While in the Army, Mom met and married her first husband, Stan. Music was an important part of their lives as they both played guitar and Mom also played piano. They played with a local band for many years and when they retired to Chase, BC, they joined the Kamloops Oldtime Fiddlers Association, where they both became lifetime members. A few years after Dad passed away, Mom met and married Don Anderson, a banjo player. They were together for six years.
Mom will always be remembered for her great sense of humour and easy-going nature. She is survived by her son Reg (Trudy) Hollinshead, daughters Connie (Don) Mayers and Joyce (Gus) Klein, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to staff at Olive Devaud Residence for their genuine kindness and caring for Mom. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face.
May the rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
