Tribute

Roger passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021, in Powell River General Hospital. He was born in Oxfordshire, England, on November 20, 1920. Roger was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2015. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Winifred Peters and Bea Egger, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In his younger years Roger taught swimming and diving at Willingdon Beach. He was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed many years of camping and hiking. In midlife Roger was an avid runner, participating in many marathons and 10-kilometre runs. He ran the Boston Marathon at age 69. Roger spent his working career as a carpenter with MacMillan Bloedel. In retirement he continued with his love of carpentry in his workshop as well as being a proud member of the BOMB Squad. He loved to show off photos of the bridges he had helped to build. The family would like to thank Ken Maynard for generously helping Roger since the passing of Morris Moser, who assisted Roger for several years. We would also like to extend a warm thank-you to the doctors and nurses for the wonderful care and attention he received. A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Myrtle Point Golf Club.
