Tribute

Robert Vincent Tyne, born on September 24, 1942, passed away on March 22, 2026, at Evergreen Extended Care in Powell River. Bob was the eldest son of Eva and L.P. Tyne (who predeceased him) of Sudbury, Ontario. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Margie, and his sons, Marc and Joey. He also leaves behind his brothers, Roger (Lorraine), Terry (Jan), and Peter (Kim), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob, affectionately known as R.V. to his peers, graduated with a BSc degree from the University of Guelph. He began his career as a Process Engineer and chemist at Espanola KVP Company in Ontario before moving on to a position with the MacMillan Bloedel Company in Powell River, B.C.

Bob was a quiet, intelligent, well-informed, principled, and trustworthy man. Many were delighted to learn that he was an encyclopedia of local flora and fauna and a source of unexpected trivia. He cherished the outdoors, his garden, and his family. Forest and beach walks were his preferred activities for mental and emotional rejuvenation.

Over the past decade, Bob’s health has been a challenge. We are grateful that his final moments were peaceful. We extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Barrie McDonald for his exemplary medical care throughout these difficult years. Additionally, we express our gratitude to the wonderful staff at Evergreen for their warm professionalism and diligent care.
