Tribute
Robert Millar passed away on November 26, with his family at his side in Powell River, after a brave and lengthy battle with leukemia and rheumatoid arthritis.
Robert was born May 2, 1930 in Burnaby, BC to John Frederick Millar and Beatrice Holland Millar, with seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lois, his sisters Audrey and Catherine, his son Cary (Lisa), daughter Judith (Ulrich) Hissen, daughter Gail (Tom) and family, and grandchildren Kai, Nicolai, Katerina, Asia and Matthias. He was predeceased by his daughter Karen.
Robert was a kind and caring man who worked hard in trucking, fishing, and logging in his early life and was known to many as “Backhoe Bob” for the last 20 years. He was a regular member of the 6 am chapter of the Thunder Bay Coffee Group.
His family wishes to express their appreciation for the compassion and love from Dr. Horsfall, Home Support Care, the staff of the fourth floor at Powell River General Hospital, all our friends, and our angel Marielle. A memorial will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 1 pm at Powell River United Church.
