Tribute
Rosemarie Primrose January 5, 1927- October 14, 2017 Rosemarie passed away quietly at the age of 90 in Powell River General Hospital. She was born in Edmonton to Bill and Norah Coghill and had four siblings. She is survived by her son Gary. Rosemarie had a colourful and courageous life. She worked as a nurse in Kenya from 1948 to 1952 but left just ahead of the Mau Mau insurgence. Upon her return to Canada, she worked in Lethbridge, where she met her dear second husband, the writer Tom Primrose. They purchased a hobby farm southwest of Calgary and had 10 wonderful years there before Tom passed away suddenly. Heartbroken, Rosemarie moved to Savary Island in 1984, set up a gift shop and candy store and was the first responder on the island for many years. Rosemarie has been a popular resident at Kiwanis Manor since 2010. She was always aware and appreciative of the wonderful care she received there. The family would like to thank ICU staff at the hospital and Dr. Van Zyl and Dr. Marentette for their support and guidance in her last days. A service for Rosemarie will take place at 11 am on Saturday, October 28, at Savary Island Church, which she helped to found.
