Tribute

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Silvano Mastrodonato on July 26, 2012.
Born in Bagnoli Del Trigno, Italy he came to Canada in 1963.
He leaves behind his wife of 44 years Bea, his children Dave (Erin), John (Ximena) and Mike (Jodi). He also leaves behind his six grandchildren, Alex, Samantha, Keaton, Cohen, Mia and Emma, his brother Costanzo (Ermelinda), his brother Pietro, his sister Lidia, his brother Arnaldo (Dina), his brother in law Vito (Jo-Ella), his brother in law Alvin (Kathleen) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Enrico and Angelina, his brother Lionello, his niece Assunta and his nephew Enrico.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his hard work ethic, his generosity towards others, his infectious smile and his dedication to his faith and his family.
He worked in the pulp and paper mill in Powell River for 35 ½ years where he was known as “Little Sam”. He retired in 2002 at the age of 56. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, gardening and projects around the house but his favourite pastime was helping others with their projects. He was never able to say “no” when asked by someone for help. Many will remember him as a small man with a huge heart.
Our family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Naude, Dr. Rossouw, Father Neufeld and the wonderful neighbours who tried to help.
Prayers were held at 7pm on Monday, July 30th at the Church of the Assumption and the funeral mass was held at 10:30am on Tuesday also from the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Powell River General Hospital or the Assumption Church Building Fund.
